Dual boot Mac OSX and Steam OS?
Just want to know if this will be possible. Since I can run Linux and Windows fine.

Apparently dual booting with steamos is possible, but still overly complicated to achieve. That should be fixed by the time a "final" release is available, but while still in beta, its not really worth it in my opinion

I'm going bump this since I have the same question. And also, apparently, SteamOS now has dual-boot support.

I don't know if that still means that if you try to install it, it will wipe your drives. That's what I keep reading whenever I look up how to install.

And has anyone here actually gone through the process of installing on a Mac?

It'll only wipe the first physical hard drive (if there are multiple) if you do an automatic installation. You can manually set up partitions in Expert Install. That's how it works on PC. I've got no idea how it'll work on a Mac.

Dual booting Windows and Steam OS on a PC isn't overly complex at all. A very basic understanding of a Linux install is all that is required and can be acheived even by reading a guide.

Mac is abit harder, you could try following regular installation guides for dual booting Ubuntu and Mac OSX, It might be a similar process if possible.

I haven't had any success with launching SteamOS on an iMac. I'll get so far as the GRUB screen, but after that, it just sits on a black screen.

You got SteamOS installed but BPM mode is failing to load? You might try disabling the BPM in the lightdm.conf and just have it show the login menu and choose GNOME.

I remember having the problem of BPM not starting in VirtualBox but Gnome started fine.

It should be possible. I think it is kinda complicated right now, but once it is out it should be pretty simple.

Well, that's the hope. But gotta get on Valve's case about that. If they want the OS to proliferate, they gotta make that installer smooth and not wipe out everything.

I mean, I'm sure as hell not buying a $499 Steam Box. I thought the target audience and pricing would be more towards consoles.

But I want SteamOS. On my Mac. I want to see it succeed as on operating system.
