Birthday gift from Steam/Valve
It's my birthday today, and when I woke up and went on steam, I noticed that there was no gift programme on Steam, like there is on a lot of other websites.

Would you like to see this sort of thing implemented? If so, what would you like to see gifted by Valve to you on your birthday, and what do you think would be a reasonable gift?

No, people would just create alts for this.

Happy Birthday though, I hope you have a good one! :)

Supposing that wuld happen, what sort of gift would you feel is low enough a value to be gifted, or do you think some sort of measure should be put into place to stop that, like only active accounts that had at least a year of service got gifts?

Why would Valve offer gifts?

From what I've noticed...most forums and community groups send automated "Happy Birthday" emails to users. That should be sufficient enough if anything.

Don't need anything from steam just because it my birthday,
I get plenty of free booster packs and coupons from them all year around,
A PM saying happy birthday from my close steam friends makes my day much better than free gifts.

I think a booster pack would be a good option. I've never gotten one just randomly

I agree, maybe you could also upgrade your (in german it`s "Abzeichen", the things u create with cards if u have all of one game) and make the emoticon and stuff u get when u do this, just that it`s not tradable?

Your badges? Yeah that'd be a good idea

Nice idea but, who will pocket the cost of the gift. If you were brave enough to enter that personal info, then some forum members may give you a note from fellow friends. Anyway Happy Birthday and may you live to see your children grow.:sgsr_captain:

How about a free day of play for one of the games on your wishlist?

people would just abuse it and create alternative accounts, but happy birthday regardless

If you did receive some sort of gift on your birthday wouldn't lots of people just keep changing their birthday so they keep getting gifts?

Thanks! And yeah I was saying earlier a safeguard for that could be you have to have an account that's been there for at least a year or something.
