oh, well yea i have heard of hackers, but i dont understand with steam, i only know how to redeem codes from games i buy or {LINK REMOVED} which gives you bananas to buy steam wallet codes and game codes

While calling out someone isn't exactly fair, his VAC ban doesn't necessarily mean he himself even cheated. Accusations without context.

For one, you can get VAC banned if you use Steam Family Sharing, and someone cheats on one of your licenses.

Same goes for phone number: if someone cheats, and you share the same phone number at the time of infraction, you will both get VAC banned (or potentially game banned.) While it's downright stupid to share the same phone number to begin with due to the account security issues it brings with it, it's entirely possible that two people in the same family share the number as it beats not having a phone number tied to your account.
