Same country!!! Still not able to join same group!??
My brother is not able to join my family group even though we live in the same country and have the same Steam region. this is so bad!!!! Do i have to log his account in on my PC to accept the invitation? or would that get us banned. So frustrating !

I am having the same issue. I have thought about removing the invite and then sending it again, but I was unsure if this would trigger the 1 year cooldown for that "spot" does anyone have a solution to this?

Do not access other peoples accounts like that as it's not allowed.

To join steam families you have to be on the same ip address to join initially and then as long as you stay in the same region it should work as normal.

So then I wait for my brother to come here and sign in on my PC, accept the invite and then log out. Would that actually work? the message he got when he was denied to join mentioned that his Steam activity doesn't indicate that he is in the same hoursehold!! could he get kicked out or banned if he went back to his place after joining? I have opened a ticket with Steam but still no reply.

Basically how it works it this, if you send out a family invite to someone Steam checks the login history of the person you are inviting.
If they did not log into Steam at your location or very near to it in the last few months or so they do not count as "same household" and the invitation will be denied.
A workaround is to login to the same PC right after each other with your Steam accounts.
First your brother, then you switch to your account and send out the invite.
It will now work because for Steam your last login location was at the same place.

After they joined the family it does not really matter from where they login.
I have Steam Family members who are currently nearly 600km away from me and have been for 6+ months and family share still works fine with them.
Its just the initial invite that is such a pain in the butt.

Why would you? There are no rules against it and logging into the same PC with a family member is also not forbidden or anything.
If i remember correctly someone even asked Steam Support about doing this and their answer was, "as long as the invite can be accepted everything is fine".

They just want to make sure you actually know the person you are inviting in real life.
