Proposition to increase family members limit
I'm not aware if someone already suggested that but i saw that a lot of people want to have more slots in their families. At this moment people can increase their friends list with each steam account level. 5 more slots per level.

My proposition is:
  • Keep the default 6 member slot limit.
  • Create Family level. Family level would be sum of each member account level.
  • Give 1 more slot per x levels in family. For example for each 50th level increase the size of family by 1.
  • Create maximum limit of member. For example twice the default so 12.

Then if family level would be under 50 then we would have 6 slots.
50 to 99lvl - 7 slots
100 to 149lvl - 8 slots
...

And i think it would keep people from creating new accounts with 0 level to abuse this system. Alternatively use account age instead of level

Will never happen since that would basically make Steam Families into a class system.
One of the points of Steam is that every account is treated the same, the new level 1 account that owns 1 game and the veteran 20 year account with 5000 games.

They had to draw the line for the family share member numbers somewhere and its the same one as with the old system. You can share your games with up to 5 other accounts.

I grew up in a family of 9 people, 7 kids. We later adopted 2 more kids. This would have sucked if we could have only included half of us.

Agreed. It would be nice to have some sort of mechanism to qualify as a high trust account to increase the family size. I come from a family of 8, my own family has 7 members and this limit will become an issue in a few years time. There are plenty of households that blow past 6 people. This could be something along the lines of baselines of money spent on accounts, or years that accounts have been active, or years that the family has been active, or what % of signin logs come from the same IP address as a general proof that the >6 member family is being used from the same household.
