had the same, eventually broadcast started, but very slow, this could be caused by sender's poor network

Yeah, I've got the same issue at the moment. Then again, expecting a few teething problems in a beta.

I think it's an issue with internet speed, if the users upload speed is too low it won't work properly. Been jumping around testing these for myself and my friends and noticed those with slower internet have this problem.

I dropped the reso and bitrate to lowest, and it worked BUT opening up steam overay confirmed to turn off streaming

This could very well be an issue, however i did a speed test on my internet a couple of hours ago to check this and it confirmed my upload speed was about 1Mbps which should be more than fast enough especially when i dropped the video size to the minimal option atleast as far as i know.

i have the same problem, the stream loads plays a few seconds of it then says its waiting for the player to start streaming, sometimes it even says hes stopped playing when hes clearly still playing on the other end via skype

Can confirm that it's an issue. Friend of mine is not only attempting to be live on steam, but doing the same process on OBS - and succeeding.

Steam will have NO CHANCE against Twitch, or Hitbox for this matter. What a surprise.

Dropping the bit rate setting to its lowest quality seems to help. Wasn't working before, but now I can view myself broadcasting. Still dropping out fairly frequently, though.
