An option to completely turn it off (not just "off") would be good.
This is what I was worried about. I want a way to disable streaming COMPLETELY, so it doesn't impact the performance of the games I'm playing.
i would just opt out of the beta for now and wait till they implement these things
I have an older machine, and I have no idea when I'm going to be able to upgrade again, but it probably won't be for awhile. The games I have run well enough that I can enjoy them, but not so well that I can afford to take a performance hit for a feature I really have no interest in.
The bottom line is, I don't watch streams, I don't have any interest in streaming anything myself, and I'm not cool with the idea of having my experience negatively impacted because I can't turn this off. So I figure I ought to say something about that while this is still in beta, /before/ it's a done deal.
The performance impacts from broadcasting also seem to differ from game to game. Fallout New Vegas, for instance, lost roughly 60 FPS while recording (80 to 15), while other games like Skyrim only lost 15 FPS.
