Broadcast is upsidedown
My friend is trying to watch me play FTL: Faster Than Light, but she says the video is upsidedown when my desktop isn't being displayed. Anyone have any ideas what could cause this?

While this isn't a fix, it can still be a workaround, tell her to go to her resolution settings and set her monitor to landscape (flipped) so that the monitor would be flipped and therefore making the stream look upright.

I know this sounds dumb, but I have no experience with that game, or even taken streaming that much in-depth to come up with a proper fix, plus this is still Beta, give it time and valve will get feed-back on it.

Um, I appreciate the input, but I'd already thought of that. I was really hoping for more of an actual fix... also, I realize Valve will be ironing out bugs, but they still need people to report them, so I figured I'd either find someone who knew what the problem was or I'd be alerting Valve to a newly discovered problem.

Anyway, I think the problem has something to do with either full-screen mode, or having Steam record my desktop while out of game, because changing both of those seemed to solve the issue.

Thank you for reporting this issue. We have been unable to reproduce upside down video with FTL. Can you have your friend respond to this thread with: the OS she is playing on, video settings and last entry in <steam install location>/logs/streaming_log.txt?

I just let her know. Just in case, my OS is windows 7, I broadcast @ 480p, 2000kb/s, and I initially had Steam broadcast my desktop and had the game windowed, but I tried changing both of those settings. She says it was only upsidedown when she wasn't seeing my desktop (I assume that means when the game had focus) and she's saying now that changing those 2 settings didn't actually do anything (she kept insisting it wasn't an issue that it was upsidedown, so I may have misinterpreted what she meant at the time).

Here's a link to the log entries from my pc on the date of the incident: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Wq1pnt4lPs9rxjjw_MT4zF--GG0IQZUY6rn2G79YEVU/edit?usp=sharing

Hate to necro this thread, but I can't find many threads that complain about this bug at all and it has been plaguing me since forever. I actually first noticed it when my steam screenshots were turning out upside down and inverted in FTL. When broadcasting came out, the bug seems to have translated over. It's dumb but it's very frustrating and baffling. It seems to be an FTL-only issue.

My laptop specs:
HP Envy 14
Windows 7 x64
Intel i5 2.67Ghz
ATI Mobility Radeon 5650

Dude, just start a new thread in that case. This thread is over a year old...

Were you ever able to solve the issue?

no, I don't think my friend ever even got around to sending her log file. But seriously, just make a new thread; you'll probably get more help that way.
