Unable to watch any broadcasts. Only get black screen.

As the title says whenever i try to watch anyone's broadcast i just get a blackscreen with no sound and i notice the timer doesn't move at all. It just began happening suddenly i don't know what might have caused it. Can anyone provide assistance?

Sorry for the Nerco but I solved my issue, If anyone else is only getting a black screen when you try to watch any stream. Check to see if you have hardware decoding enabled for video under the interface options in settings, disabling that for me restored broadcasts.

I just had this issue (Summer 2018). I enabled hardware decoding, restarted steam, tested a broadcast with no success, disabled hardware decoding, restarted steam and then finally the broadcast loaded right up. Thank @odbulio

There might be another method, deleting your html cache folder.

C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Local\Steam\

within it you'll see "htmlcache", delete that folder then start up Steam again and give the broadcast a try.

yup. still getting this problem in 2019. my problem was a little different though. i could hear all the sounds, just a black screen. had to enable hardware decoding, then disable it again then it was working fine. it's in the interface tab in settings if anyone's having problems finding this. thanks
