Maybe it has to do with the resolution? I'm running at 1080p.
The problem must be on your end, possible reasons:
1) vsync is enabled for some reason
2) a 3rd party software is capping your framerate
3) a game setting is capping your framerate
4) you have hardware video decoding enabled in Steam settings
5) you're using Steam stable branch
Are you absolutely sure you're using Steam beta? Are you sure you have more than 60fps when you're not streaming? Does it affect ALL games? Tried using 720p? Tried using both encoding qualities?
Edit: Turns out if Just Cause 3 starts broadcasting during the initial loading, it'll cap to 60 immediately. Wait until it is done and then it'll be uncapped.
I'm running a i7 4790k, 980 Ti OC edition and 16gb of RAM, I don't power is much of an issue.
Either way, I just gave up and since I don't really "stream professionaly" I deactivated the feature (I just liked to set it on for everyone to join in and see me play stuff, like my friends).
Maybe lightboost is the culprit here. Does it lock to 60 fps when you're using 144 Hz refresh rate?
What happens if you set your monitor to 120/144 Hz?
TOXI, you are correct my mistake using Mhz when we are talking about just hz; steam caps to 60 fps the moment someone joins the broadcast and I perceive a weird performance hit (I suspect it has to do with the monitor running at 120hz), not unplayable but very annoying, once the viewer leaves games back to normal.
