I have the same problem 60 fps cap on a 120 hz screen.
Upgrade to beta version of steam, that one is fixed
I did, and still get 60 fps lock, do I have to do anything else?

Disable vertical sync? Is your framerate locked to 60 on all games?
Vsync is always off for every game, monitor is set to 120 mhz, using steam beta, setting broadcast settings to maxium stream speed and optimal performance and still get always capped to 60fps; and I'm running a 980 Ti so framerate isnt an issue.

Maybe it has to do with the resolution? I'm running at 1080p.
Which OS? No problems on 7.

I just tried running CS:GO in 1920x1080 while streaming in 1080p @ 3.5Mbits with Best Quality encoding and I had 140fps in main menu.

The problem must be on your end, possible reasons:

1) vsync is enabled for some reason
2) a 3rd party software is capping your framerate
3) a game setting is capping your framerate
4) you have hardware video decoding enabled in Steam settings
5) you're using Steam stable branch

Are you absolutely sure you're using Steam beta? Are you sure you have more than 60fps when you're not streaming? Does it affect ALL games? Tried using 720p? Tried using both encoding qualities?

I'm getting the same issue as Genma today, yesterday Steam broadcasting was going well over 60, but today it immediately caps anything to it. No idea what the deal is, perhaps it's a problem with an update to the beta? Or maybe because I updated my drivers? No clue.

Edit: Turns out if Just Cause 3 starts broadcasting during the initial loading, it'll cap to 60 immediately. Wait until it is done and then it'll be uncapped.

I have the same problem, lock on 60fps but with twitch streaming I get 250-300 fps, but I see some people who stream without a problem???:steammocking:
I just gave up, tried different things and still locks to 60 fps
You do realise that 60 FPS is normally a big ask when streaming in 1080p and above?
The problem I have is with my monitor, a BenQ XL2411Z; it has a feature that eliminates blur from image movement, this is achieved by a strobing light that is imperceptible while using 120mhz or 144mhz mode, but setting it to 60 mhz just messes with it and you can percieve it. For some reason, when I stream, Steam locks my FPS to 60 and manages to ♥♥♥♥ up the image of any game I play (not sure if its switching my monitors refresh rate though, but I can see the strobing). So even if streaming 1080p is a huge task, the FPS lock is just not worth it to me.

I'm running a i7 4790k, 980 Ti OC edition and 16gb of RAM, I don't power is much of an issue.

Either way, I just gave up and since I don't really "stream professionaly" I deactivated the feature (I just liked to set it on for everyone to join in and see me play stuff, like my friends).
Surely its just Hz, not Mhz, we're not that advanced yet. xD
Maybe lightboost is the culprit here. Does it lock to 60 fps when you're using 144 Hz refresh rate?
The thing is, the 60fps lock was a regression introduced in November 5th update (fixed in November 13th beta udpate), if you had 60fps while streaming before that, the problem was on your end from the very beginning.

What happens if you set your monitor to 120/144 Hz?

My monitor is set to 120hz, all games run without vsync or any sort of FPS cap; most stay above 120, in the newer ones I may go down to 80 in specific moments.

TOXI, you are correct my mistake using Mhz when we are talking about just hz; steam caps to 60 fps the moment someone joins the broadcast and I perceive a weird performance hit (I suspect it has to do with the monitor running at 120hz), not unplayable but very annoying, once the viewer leaves games back to normal.
Do you have vsync enabled?
