As of now the viewer cannot speak, only type. I don't think they will or really should add that feature either. It's one thing when a troll starts spamming text in the stream, but if sound were to be spammed, it would not only mess up the experience for the viewers, but also disrupt the streamer as well.
Is it now possible, or still not? I have enabled "Record my microphone" on Settings > Broadcasting, and mic works on test on Voice tab. But broadcaster doesn't hear me.
I understand it will be annoying for trolls, but on tab Broadcasting there's already the option of who can watching us. So, if the broadcaster can control who will watching, there should be option too set who (viewers) can speak too.
Cross chat is very common on consoles. Xbox Live even allows creating group and ppl playing different games talk while playing. I'd expect on Steam to have one friend playing and 2 or 3 others watch and all talking together. Limit us on text chat is dumb.
I have a buddy streaming a new game and we were looking to voice chat while he played.
