Games where you control a single, large, capital ship?
I'm kinda sick of flying fighters, or larger ships that control like fighters.
I've played all the X series games and I'm not interested in EVE.

I've never played Rules of Engagement. I'll have to give that a try. Thanks.

The RoE games are old DOS games, but in terms of fidelity and gameplay they still hold up, I think.

I grew up with DOS. It's not a problem. They're also on Amiga, so I'll check which version is better.

X-Wing Allinace with MODS lets you fly an SSD... its a little jank, but damn is it funny as hell to play.

Star Woves 3, it has fighters but you can also use your motherships for combat. For new and just combat look up Dreadnaught the game. It is not on steam as far as I am aware but google that term should get youi there. Very new and very pretty but combat only. Also the newest Starpoint Gemini wiich is Starpoint Gemini Warllords could be exactly what your are looking for, you fly capital ships, do missions or capture ships for self use or profit. There is a story as well.

Star Wolves are a great choice.

There is only one game that fits this bill, one game to rule them all.

Battlecruiser 3000AD.

Sadly, I don't have a copy of that. Got Universal Combat though. XD

Yeah, it's still going on. In its ninth iteration now.

You also have to buy the DLC to get the latest updates.

They also come bundled for the price of the DLC alone.

If you've played BC before then you should know what to expect. It's updated to run on modern hardware. It looks a little prettier. And there are a few new features (more than a few depending on how far back the version you played was). But it is still BC, and it is still Derek Smart, so you know what you're getting into.
