Since 2013, there's been a crackdown on low-quality creepypastas and spinoffs on the Creepypasta Wiki, arguably one of two most widely-known creepypasta sites (with the other being creepypasta.com).
Here are my poorly-written theories:
- Because of the heightened standards, there are decreasing numbers of new writers. They post their mediocre stores and they get taken down for not meeting quality standards. Some readers may enjoy these stories, but because they are not objectively good, they get taken down. The fans of the story get pouty and move elsewhere.
- There are almost no more ideas that haven't been done at least twice before, meaning that execution has to make a story good. Newer writers obviously don't meet these standards and get their story taken off the site.
- The 2014 Slenderman incident has made a bad mark on the community
- All the Jeff fangirls have grown up and moved past their emo phase
- Seasoned readers have seen it all: every cliche, genre, and writing style. There is nothing left for new writers to offer besides twists on these established conditions
- People in general aren't as afraid of lost footage or creepy media anymore; this generation is very experienced with technology and can probably explain every "haunted photo" as image manipulation
- This technological shift makes everything easier to debunk: pretty much every site uses Google, making creepy videos easier to find on a clip-by-clip basis

Even the titlles are bad right now. 2013-2014 was, for me, the last time there were a lot of quality creepypastas.

Creepypasta technically isn't dead, the good stories just aren't payed attention to anymore.

welp, I had to dig through his wiki and reddit and just found out.

I see no reason to put them away though. The only other thing I found out was a channel called "someordinaryarchives" but I'm not sure if they have all his vids in them. At least it's better than nothing!

Old thread, but for anyone who happens to be reading: I was the main administrator at Mutahar's wiki, yes, the Creepypastas/Haunted Gaming side of the channel is on an indefinite hiatus.
