the CIS mainly revels in ridiculously good commerce and just general civ tech, and they're usually supposed to just pump out crazy amounts of light to mid frigates and carriers. you want to focus mainly on fighter/bomber production if you play the CIS, and with a decent fleet you can probably pump out a few thousand individual starfighters or around 100-300 squads. weak durability overall but they more than make up for it in numbers with all their glass cannons.
the Old Republic excels at all points of the game really, I'd say they're fairly balanced in terms of civ/mil/def tech at all stages, and even though their ships can be pretty costly they have a good amount of individual firepower and variety to show for it.
the Alliance is decent around mid, late-game and has a military focus on durability and expensive capital ships, easily having the most well protected ships in the game, even if their firepower is lacking a bit.
the Empire focuses mainly on military/research and is a powerhouse in late-game. their ships pack the most punch out of all others and they focus on quality over quantity. therefore building a decent fleet is going to take some time and a fair amount of resources, but it'll last you quite a while.
and then we have the New Republic, which basically takes balanced characteristics from both the Alliance, and the Empire. second most durable ships, the best variety and strategic options, and their fleets also deal quite a bit of damage. the New Republic is more of a jack of all trades, excelling at any point in the game be it early, mid, or late. so if you'd like anymore insight I'd be glad to discuss whatever you have in mind
Yeah, I did go to the wiki, and it really wasn't enough for me.
I have had the best luck with Republic and CIS, though that was mostly on the pre-Rebellion 1.82 version of the mod.
