So a big thanks to TWalker, the server hosting balance is now 39.12 euro, so the server will stay up for the next 13 months! :D

Now we just need to try and make sure people are around to play :P

Slurm (woo) just funded the server again, so the new total balance in the hosting account is 23.48 euro and they are taking out 2.99 euro per month

So we're good to go for another 7.85 months! :P

So the balance is now up to 17.00 EURO thanks to donations from Heavy and I think Slurm? ( someone called Julia :P )

That means the server will keep running until April 2019 without any more money being put forward

( I was attempting to top the 1.41 sitting in the balance to 3 and failed at math, which is why the balance is 17 and not 18 which would have divided by 2.99 nicely :Z )

Some people have been asking about giving money towards running the new rocket server.

I've been funding it since it launched in August as it's only 2.99 EURO a month, so I don't mind paying for it.

The way it works from the hosting company (gamerzhost.de) is money is added to the account's 'balance' and then on the 3rd of each month (last payment was 3rd Nov) they take 2.99 EURO out of whatever balance the account has.

There's currently 1.41 EURO left in the account that I'll top up to 2.99 to pay for December.

If anyone does want to put money towards it (I'm not actually asking for it so it's fine if no one does) the easiest way is to PayPal me whatever you want to give to 'reload.ebay[@]gmail.com' (my PayPal address - remove the brackets) and then I'll add whatever money is sent to the hosting account's balance.

The money is then straight away assigned to the running of the server and because the monthly cost is so cheap, just a couple of people donating a couple of euros would fund it for months at a time. Having money sitting in the account's balance also means if enough money is there to keep it funded every month, literally no action needs to be taken to make sure the server will stay up as the money automatically comes out.

TL:DR -

I'm not actually asking for donations to keep the server running but if you want to give any money then it costs 2.99 EURO a month and my PayPal address is 'reload.ebay[@]gmail.com' (remove the brackets). All money will go straight into the game hosting 'balance' and so won't be kept by me any longer than it takes me to do another payment to the hosting company.

New server for those that still want to play

From what I read after Hav talked about setting up a new server, Quake Live doesn't need more than 1GB of RAM.

I've purchased a months access to the 3vCore 1GB RAM virtual server on the link above and we can see how QL runs on that. If it seems to be struggling then will have to do the 2GB RAM option but the 1Gig server is so cheap that I don't mind testing it out.

I don't mind contributing

I don't mind what the map pools are tbh, shame that rocket CTF is looking quite empty these days. Only reason I'm not playing is I don't have as much free time at the moment.
