That too. Also, not to mention that death himself can roll either of these as well. If death rolls Timebomb, then it is a guaranteed instant win for the runners no matter who he kills with it. If death rolls Toxic, then all he has to do is run along the wall and eliminate most, if not all players in one fell swoop. It catches everyone off-guard.
Yeah, I agree. rtd is actually redundant for death anyway since there's almost nothing he can do with it unless it is during a VS minigame, and there are a couple of rolls that can screw him over. Like Frozen, which renders him unable to move and activate traps, and Explode (different from Timebomb), which kills himself instantly, and leads many people to think that he suicided and broke the rules.
Here's a rundown on the rolls.
Rolls I think should be removed from Deathrun.
-Stripped to Melee: This is pretty much useless since everyone is stripped to melee by default anyway.
-Invisibility: Rendered useless by the fact that everyone has an outline, so death can still see invisible players. Unless the outlines themselves are removed, I don't see much point in keeping this roll.
-Forced Taunt: I'm not even sure what purpose this roll serves, but is does nothing on Deathrun as far as I know.
-Scary Bullets: Like with Stripped to Melee, this one is useless because there are no ranged weapons to use. Plus, players can't harm death with those anyway.
-Instant Kills: Useless, because unlike Toxic, you can't even reach death beyond the wall.
-Infinite Double Jumps: This one doesn't work, so it's useless.
Rolls I think should be kept on Deathrun.
-Godmode: Makes you temporarily invincible, and a great way to bypass some traps without dying.
-Lucky Sandvich: Increases your health immensely, which is helpful for some traps that don't have instant kill radii.
-Player Shrink: Very helpful in slipping by some traps. My only gripe with it is the last-second respawn, which happens at random and screws me over sometimes. If that problem gets fixed, then I'm fine with keeping this.
-Low Gravity: Allows you to make big leaps over some traps, so it's very useful sometimes.
-Blind, Drugged, and Funny Feeling: All three of these affect your vision, and make things fun and challenging.
-Spontanious Combustion and Mystery Sauce: Both only cause minor gradual damage, and largely have no impact unless you roll...
-Low Health: Drops your heath to one. Turns your experience into what I call a Daredevil Run and makes things tougher (unless you're Medic, Sniper with Cozy Camper, or Soldier with Conchelor). Plus, Spontanious Combustion and Mystery Sauce will kill you if you're not careful.
-Instant Sentry and Instant Dispenser: Both can be used as platforms to help with certain traps, like the broken Pink Guy trap in Trump Tower. However, while the Sentry is temporary, the Dispenser is not, and stays there indefinitely. If the Dispenser is made to be temporary instead, it could be balanced out. This one is up to the admins to decide though, because not everyone is ok with this. I know Neptune isn't. He'll slay anyone who uses a Sentry or Dispenser to bypass traps.
-Big Head: Has no actual purpose, but it's funny, so keep.
These are the ones I remember from the back of my head. Let me know if I missed any rolls.
-Nostalgia: This one is harmless. It just gives your vision a black-and-white effect, so keep.
-Earthquake: I'm actually unsure about this one. Yes, it makes me dizzy everytime I or someone else rolls this, but it doesn't seem to have any other impact other than, maybe, disorienting death.
-Faster Speed: I'm not sure if this one even works. If so, then keep. If not, then remove.
Do you know some better rtd plugins you can get somewhere?
If we have the TF2: Roll the Dice RTD - v0.4[forums.alliedmods.net] plugin on Allied Modders then there is actually an easy way to disable perks, according to the cvars listed on the mod page.
If we have the [TF2] Roll The Dice (Revamped)[forums.alliedmods.net] plugin on Allied Modders, there is also an easy way to disable perks, according to the cvars listed on the mod page.
Regardless of what plugin we use, there is no reason why we should not be able to remove toxic and time bomb from the list of perks on !rtd. We just have to get it approved and removed by AI and/or Paradox. Which takes time.
Well, at least Prisma acknowledged it, and she's a head admin. But if the other admins are either too busy, don't agree with this, or simply don't care, then there's nothing that can be done about it and I'll let it slide.
Prisma hasn't been head admin for some time now. Paradox changed things so that only Flying is a "Head Admin".
I am also one of the deathrun admins, alongside Prisma. Her and I are of equal position. I can assure you that we are working on this and hopefully it'll be figured out soon.
