Good Point, I was under the same impression but couldn't find anything either (except for some complaints regarding an update back in 2012), Steam not allowing me to view the update history in my library. I personally cannot recall any updates either (though these would likely be too small to notice). One would think that companies fix such things, but I honestly don't trust Valve much in that regard anymore either.

Again though, the playerbase is about 50-70 people anymore, only meeting up to play two hours a week, so the odds of running into a Hacker here should be rather low, even if a potential risk might exist. I fully understand if you want to stay away from the mod in the light of this of course.

Good News (if you haven't heard them yet): the remake is well on the way!

The mod itself has not been updated since 2011, but most of these exploits should have been adressed directly by Valve updating the underlying Source SDK Base 2007, so it shouldn't be much more dangerous than playing GMOD, CSGO or TF2.

In addition, there is the added benefit of obscurity: RnL has so few players (always had) that Hackers and the likes would likely focus on the larger Source-Games where they can do more damage to more people. I've been playing RnL on/off since 2012 and have participated in pretty much every event since 2016, and (while there are plenty of weird glitches), I must say that I haven't even once seen a Hacker or anything like that.

Also, knowing most of the remaining players, I would be honest to god suprised if any of them had the technical know-how to understand the Source-Engine-Code, let alone abuse any potential weaknesses it has.

All that being said, I can of course not guarantee to you that there might not one day be such a case, so if you are very risk-averse, feel free to stay away from this mod. All I can say is that, based on the knowledge I have, the probability for such a scenario to occur appears to be exceptionally low.

Should be a minor issue. The game sometimes fails to shut down correctly, so steam thinks it is still running and refuses to launch it again. Just force-close the "half life 2 multiplayer" exe in task manager and you should be able to start the game again.
As for the Server not showing, let's hope that was just a temporary issue, as it is showing for me. Reply here again if the issue persists.

Hi Richard, glad to have you in our community! Sadly, the game is currently in a state in which it has only few players. Hence the only time it is really played is during organized events called "realisms" (those have teamleaders, a planning phase and require you to act in squads, but are normal games aside of this, you can also ask for the rules before a match starts). These "realisms" only take place once a week, usually saturday 8pm GMT (that should be 9pm in Germany then). If you show up around this time, you will find people to play with. You can also join this group: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/RnLHAA as to get notified whenever an event starts.
Additionally, the 10thBLP clan is holding open trainings on each friday 8pm GMT, so you can join them in their training in order to get some tips and a basic introduction to the game.

The Game is not dead (technically), but has hit a player count so low that people have to organize and meet up for playing together. This usually happens on the weekends (sadly not every weekend) on the OSS server (which will be started up only for such events), mostly on saturdays at around 6pm GMT.
As the guy organizing these had some technical issues last weekend, I can't tell whether we will hold one this wekend.

If you want to join for such events, where we play (somewhat) organized, I recommend joining one of the Announcer Groups that will send out a notification whenever we hold events.

I'm sorry, but there are, as far as I know, only three servers currently, none of them being in the Asia/Australia Region but all of them being based in the European Area.

These servers are:
-Rnl lover (IP: 195.154.172.83:27016) that is sometimes used for casual gaming (we're looking to get more casual play going, but the amount is pretty low atm)
-Antialink (IP: 145.239.102.133:27068), not used anymore really
-52nd OSS (can't give you the IP sadly as it's not currently up, will provide as soon as possible), that is mainly started for events and is the most active server of the three. These events usually run on weekends from 6pm GMT on (which should sadly be 4'o clock in the night in Australia). You can join one of the Announcer Groups to inform you whenever there is an event going on.

Should you not find any servers at all, make sure you have Version 1.6 of the Game installed and no filter on the serverbrowser. If you still can't see anything, you can try joining with one of the IPs provided above (open up the console and type in the command console:
connect 195.154.172.83:27016
).

Should the issue be that there are only empty servers, that's simply due to the game being mostly dead and the only time of it being played is nighttime in Australia. In that case we can try setting up some earlier events during the Holiday season (events are traditionally held late for the American part of the Community, but if you really want to experience the game, maybe we can make an exception).
