Terraria - How to play with more than 8 players
  1. Follow the guide here[terraria.gamepedia.com] on how to set up a dedicated server for Terraria.

  2. Now you can open up the serverconfig.txt and by removing the "#" change
    #maxplayers=
    to
    maxplayers=
    and set it to a number between 1 and 255.
Note though; more than the default of 8 is not recommended unless you have an actual, really powerful server to host the game on (not just a powerful gaming PC)
