Synapse macros with modifiers help

Hey all,
so I'm playing a game that (unlike WoW) has no internal macro support, so I'm working with synapse 2.0 instead for my razer naga molten edition. In game my primary action bar is 1,2,3,etc (to =) and my second skill bar is SHIFT+1,2,3,4,etc.

I would like clicking "1" on my naga's thumbpad to activate a macro which uses ability 1,2,3 (for the sake of testing I'm in notepad to watch the output)
and i would like using SHIFT+1 to call whatever skill is on my second skillbar (aka, print ! in notepad). Its not working though, and the naga only registers the "1" press locally and starts the macro anyway. With shift pressed on the keyboard however the 1,2,3 macro prints !,@,#. My question is if there is any way to make synapse recognize the "1" press is under some modifier and not call the macro? new mouse drivers, different keys for my skill bars, alternative keyboard mappings, etc? I've read plenty of macro threads regarding shift+num keys but I currently have my naga set to 123 mode
