Synapse adds US Keyboard Layout on Start
First of all let me apologize if the answer to my question is to be found somewhere on this forum, but I did look and I could not find anything.

The problem I have is fairly minor, more of an annoyance really. Every time Synapse (1.18) loads it adds English (United States) > Keyboard > US to my language bar. I can see the difference at first glance because I normally only have English (United States) > United States-International and Dutch (Netherlands) > United States-International installed. Adding the second keyboard to English (United States) makes it so that the language bar will display a keyboard icon after the language abbreviation.

To get rid of the US layout I need to either stop Synapse (not useful), or go into the language bar settings, then manually add the US layout (it's not actually listed at this point) and then remove it again. Oh and in case you wondered, my default input language is set to English (United States) - United States-International.

Does anyone else have this problem? Do you know of a way to prevent Synapse from doing this? Is there any way I can automate the removal of the layout? Or am I being stupid and can I hide the keyboard icon in some way? The extra icon is what really annoys me, I could care less if the US layout is present if it doesn't show or affect me in any way.

Edit: I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate

Well I don't have this problem but why do you have two languages set? Dutch > Keyboard > US international would be sufficient. Also go to the next tab "Language Bar" can't have it in Dutch as I don't have it installed ;p but there is an option to hide the language bar in total. In the final tab "Advanced Key Settings" you can remove the annoying change input languages hotkeys if you accendently press them during a game or whats-so-ever but is only usefull when having more input languages (like you have at the moment).

Those hotkeys are one of the first things I remove when Windows is done installing. I can't tell you how many times I've had to do this for other people who complained about their language 'randomly' switching.

I have two languages set because I need to regularly write documents both in Dutch and English. As far as I can tell certain software automatically decided what language to spell check based on the current language selection in the Language Bar. Having the option to instantly see what language is active and being able to change it quickly is why I keep the language bar active.

If I could get away with it though I would do everything in English, I set my language to English on anything that allows me to do it (phones, tablets, you name it). Having to deal with translations for computer jargon in particular seems really weird, and as most people tend to use these terms in English in day to day use even when they don't normally speak it just makes it seem contrived.

For now I've sort of solved the annoyance by adding English (United Kingdom) + United States-International to my languages and setting that to default. I'm perfectly capable of using UK spelling and since the extra keyboard is added under Engish (United States) the keyboard icon doesn't appear when it's not currently selected.

I would prefer if Razer actually fixed this stupid bug though. I'm sure it wouldn't bother most people, but there's no need for it to happen.

Hmm when I need to type Dutch I just tell the software to use Dutch language checker xD
But yea I have not have this issue (yet) but had loads of others. Rather than posting here also submit a feedback ticket as bug. Expain clearly what you already did else they first come back at you with a default list that you can try, cuz I am sure they (Razer) don't lurk around here.

*if you don't know how*
Open Synapse, click the cogwheel topright. Press "submit feedback" and select bug report under "Type / select report type".

I had this problem too. After a tweak on windows registry i solved this. I don't know if this will solve for you, but you are free to try.

How did i solve this problem:

1 - Go to windows registry editor. (HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Keyboard Layout).
2 - On "Preload" you should have a key (and a code, mine was 00000416) for every language you have in windows, identify which is which by removing and adding your languages on windows language settings on control panel and refresh the registry editor (using F5).
3 - Now go to "Substitutes", you should have a key named after one of your codes in "Preload" and it's value should be should be something like 00020XXX where XXX are three other numbers. Get the three last numbers of you main language in "Preload" and replace for XXX in 00020XXX. Mine is 00020416.
