GTA 5 Steam version downgrades.

Will put links here to steam version gta5 downgrades - when game is updated in future. They'll likely rot / become useless in 14 - 30 days. It would be much easier if you just turned off steam automatic updates, and made backups of the .exe's, and update / update and update2.rpf so you could roll back yourself. Anyway, links will appear below. You can also just put steam in offline mode and it shouldn't attempt to update your game in that fashion, and you can play that way. YMMV obviously due to 3rd party drm and all that nonsense - woooo -.-

Remember R* is trying to normalize EGS, R*, Steam versions - so these files 'might' also work for R* / EGS copies. I will no longer be testing this. At last check - they were all the same. If R* makes them 'not' the same by mistake or purpose for future updates... /shrug


***Note*** Now that they added Battleye, you will need to open the R* launcher, settings, and uncheck battleye, or use -nobattleye in the launch options or commandline.txt

The RAGE Plugin Hook has now been updated to work with the new game version. Although LSPDFR does not need an update, the latest RAGE Plugin Hook is included with the LSPDFR download.

Links good for 30 days. People have reporteds 'ads' off this hosting site. In my testing recently I haven't seen any. Slow download, no need for an account. If it is too problematic I can upload the files to another location - just let me know on my profile or something.

Update, and update.rpf will be available in a bit - they are much much larger.
They would go into gtav / update folder. If you use a 'mods' folder - likely don't need.
If you don't use a 'mods' folder steam's update likely replaced their vanilla location.

You will need to open the R* launcher, go to settings, and uncheck Battleye.
It appears be to blocking any storymode mods (for me atleast) - to play storymode mods. Unchecking battleye will disable online til rechecked.

There's ALSO a -nobattleye command line option you can toss in launch options or commandline.txt as well.

And, they updated again to...... 1.0.3337.0 Per usual, most every major game version update/change - will render scripthook outdated/broken.
Scripthookv updated again to work with 3337 - and brings some new changes with it.

edit 1 - ***** Be aware R* has made 2 more game updates since this was posted. Both appear to have changed other files in the main folder in relation to the audio/voice systems/etc. This 'downgrade' is now not working 'for me' - so YMMV.

They've also broke the windows key in game, and some other alt-tab functionality.
Fun times. Always breaking SOMETHING every update.


edit 2 - ***** Now tested and confirmed a fully updated game with only the .exe AND both .rpf's below ----- work as a downgrade. The .exe by itself isn't enough. Some have stated they needed the title.rgl file as well in the game root - not experiencing that here.

1.0.3411.0 downgrade - contains all 4 files replaced with the 'update' on Feb 19, 2025.
You may not need all 4 files, may only need .exe, or update2.rpf (goes in /update)

Tested downgrade here - replaced all 4 files - works fine.
Again, you may only need to replace gta .exe and update2.rpf
Depending on 'when'/how you've done your modded copy and the 'mods' folder you may need to re-evaluate the update2.rpf in that folder. Old versions may not work, new versions may need to be replaced if the base was from the recent update, etc.
