Announcement here, since I don't have administrator permissions to post group announcements I have to do it in discussions.
But the new libary UI is just horrible imo. For now I am using a downgraded steam version with the old UI list view and an older version of pixelvision.
Which leeds me to my question. Do you guys think it will be somehow possible to mod/skin the new libary UI to get the old look back? Without all those new features and more resource hunger?
Also, err, for not having all the new features, that's basically asking us to revert Steam to before this new update, we're unable to do that for you...
For the resource hunger issues of the new library, try enabling Low Performance mode in the Steam settings and see if it helps dial it down.
Otherwise, the only other solution is as you've done, to use a downgraded version of Steam, or to launch steam with the "-no-browser" launch argument I believe. (But this means being unable to use the in-Steam browser if I remember correctly)
Oh also, an older version of PixelVision2 isn't necessarily needed for the original library UI, the latest version will still look how you remember the library to be on older Steam versions. Although, the main differences in the latest version is support for the new Library UI and updated Big Picture button placements.
Thank you for your answer!
I think there was some misunderstanding.
Of course I know that you can't revert steam for me. :) I would never ask for something like that.
It was just a general question to guys that know how to mod/skin, if it would be possible in principle to make a skin that looks and function like the old libary list view.
Yeah, that "no-browser" and the "small-mode" thing are no solution, already tried them.
I am already using low performance and no community stuff in settings. I also changed a file to get rid of the "whats new" shelf...
Good to know that I could also use the newest PV² skin!
So, sorry for misunderstanding and thanks again for your answer! (english is obviously not my strength)

i finaly have larger font at the left listing :)
Oh, that's nice to see a guide on. Maybe I can look into it a bit further.
Great thank you! I think there is hope for people that dislike new libary UI. If Valve really doesn't add a classic libary mode there is a chance that someone could mod it to something more useful. That calms me for now. :)
