I wanted to compile a list of PC otome games that I have sitting in my games folder as well as expand my current otoge backlog by hunting down more games. This list is for people looking for free to play otome games (or commercial titles not available on steam) or to check out how far indie otome games have come.

I have not played every game listed. I base genres/content on game descriptions as well as skim reading through the intros. Therefore, some labels may be incorrect or went unnoticed.

After discussing with the admin and narrowing down my own thoughts, I've listed what kind of games ended up being excluded:

• mobile only games
  
• games that require English translation patches
  
• games with uncredited art, watermarked art, or official art from a commercial game
  
• games that are described as demos or unfinished
  
• games listed as kinetic novels/have no choices
  
• games that were reported as difficult to download
  
• games that wouldn't work properly in windowed mode (I ran them in Windows 10)
  
• games tagged with unspecified gender protagonists (using VNDB content tags[vndb.org]). I feel that these games don't necessarily fall under the otome tag "female protagonist, romanceable love interests", but would fall under the visual novel tag in general. Technically, friendship tagged games would also just fall into the visual novel tag, but I have chosen not to exclude them for now. I have labeled games that use the friendship tag accordingly.

- Title Name/URLs will lead to an itch.io download, a lemmasoft forum post that has download links, or a creator's blog with download links
- Sub-genres other than romance, since most of these contain romance in some aspect. I pointed out which ones were labeled friendship.
- Features that I felt were worth pointing out and any specific comments or keywords that grabbed my attention. Character customization is text based only, such as personality traits.

I played through some of it just out of morbid curiosity, and I'd say it's probably not worth checking out unless gore is specifically your thing. There's not enough character development, story, or context for the violence to have an emotional impact on a reader who's not just there for the torture porn.

Thank you for the suggestions! I did forget to add Pizz'Amore, it was one of the first otome games I had finished. I don't remember it at all, I ended up re-downloading it lol.

Some of the games you have recommended I have decided against adding. I tend to be pretty lenient with what games could be considered otome, but unclear protagonist gender was a pretty grey area for me to determine.

The definition of an otome game can be pretty broad, but to me, it has to include a female playable character at the very least. That is why I have made the choice to put that as an exclusion. Games that had a choosable/customizable protagonist (male/female/non-binary) are fine to me as well (some would not consider labeling them otome, just visual novel). Of course, I have not played all of these games to know if the gender of the protagonist is ever mentioned, so I went with VNDB's tags.

I also tried to argue against myself if I should have kept the friendship (or no romance) tagged games, but I really feel like I have to tackle each game on a one by one basis to really know the creator's intention of using the label (which I don't have the time for sadly), so there have been a few times I have been on the fence about which games should and should not be included (again like games with a playable male/non-binary protagonist or has only 1 love interest would just be labelled visual novel). ORZ

No problem! I included games with an unspecified gender protagonist because you had a few in the list already, but yeah, I don't know if they're "technically" otome.

One more suggestion: http://sandbox-adventure.com/ Website with HTML5 ports of free visual novels, including a number of otome and girls love games. (I think all the relevant games are already in your list, but worth noting that this site exists.)
