Recieved wrong packet from master server and can't connect?

I'm trying to start a server so I can play with a friend of mine, I can join the server via tes3mp.exe but when trying to use the server browser is just says 999 ping and has a grayed out connect button, I have allowed 25565 through the firewall and have forwarded those ports what am I doing wrong?

So you can join but your friend can not?
Have your friend try to establish a direct connection to your server. That bypasses the need for the server browser.
Are you two on the same local network or are you connecting through the internet?

That's how I learned how to portforward in the first place, that is how I encountered this problem.

I have, since my friend wants to host I'll save him the trouble and just have him use hamachi, but at least I learned how you forward ports.

Yes, I can join but my friend can't I will remember the direct connection thing another time but he's gonna host with hamachi, so I'll take the lag.
