LAN?
My brother and I wanted to give this a try, however, we cannot seem to join each other.
I know for a fact that my 25565 port is open because I host Minecraft regularly for another group of friends across the country. My firewall should not have a problem either; it usually prompts me for permission if it does.

Is connection over LAN even supported with this? How do we fix it?

set both of your destination address (found in your Server client default file) to the ipv4 address of the host computer. that worked for me.

I just double-checked the server config and noticed that the localAddress is set to 0.0.0.0. Is this for a reason or should that be changed as well? I don't remember reading about that in the setup guide.

Your fix did not work, unfortunately. I can join my own server using localhost, but my brother cannot. This is the only senario that let anyone join at all.

That localAddress should be set to your ipv4. Also, have them connect with the tes3mp.exe for now instead of the browser.

It should be fine to keep using "0.0.0.0" in the server config file because all it's supposed to do is make you reachable both remotely and through LAN.

That being said, are you sure the destinationAddress your brother put in his client config file is your correct local IP?

We had that sorted, yes. Now the problem is his computer is saying that one of our PC's has a firewall blocking the connection, which A, I have not been prompted for, and B, we went in and added specific rules that yes, these exe's are fine.

So nobody can help with this?

While you will receive prompts for most things, you don't receive them for everything. They can also be inconsistent, i've had a few programs that would prompt on some computers but not others making me have to go through the whole firewall thing.

Might want to check that no mistakes have been made with adding the exception to the firewall on both computers and that your IPv4 hasn't changed.

It hasn't, but apparently the tes3mp, when used by both of us, works out and also allows my friends several states over to join.
Problem solved. I appreciate the help I got. :)
