Small Mode
Sometimes i use Small Mode to stay away from game spoilers but i noticed that when using this skin i cannot sign in to friends, there doesn't seem to be an option anywhere, is this a design choice?

I believe you're using the unofficial patch. I just noticed that there is no option for the opening the friends panel in the top left menus.

Until I add one you can open the friends by right click on the tray icon > Friends
