the procedure* could not be located in the mtshellmq.dll.... HELP

I have been trying hours and hours to download MechWarrior 4 so that me and my brother can have a flashback to when we used to play this game a long time ago. However, whenever I try to run the game, it says procedure* could not be located in the mtshellmq.dll. I have tried everything that my brain can handle for the time I have spent working on it. I am trying to get MechWarrior 4 running on windows 10, using windows XP service pack 3 compatibility for the game. Please help!

My experience is it just don’t run at all for any number of reasons.

hm...this is an odd one. We've seen this alot around here, and I have no good answers for you. Someone had to install windows 8 on their old laptop to get it to run.

in that case, it was something to do with their headphone dac (not sure what a headphone dac is, but thats what google is for).

Any chance you have an older machine lying around?

Not really. All that I might have are broken laptops.

so in my case... it was my headset DAC... i use a steelseries arctis pro wireless and apparently the DAC being connected somehow messes up the game i have no idea why but if you are using a wireless headset try disconnecting it completely and if that doesnt work try all other peripherals you can

I managed to get it. Somehow, I don't even know or remember.
At least it works now.

if you are having this problem try unplugging different devices like headset, speakers, any usb devices and such
