Shortcuts to stream.
Currently when you create a shortcut of a game that isn't installed on the client machine, it will try to install it instead of streaming. It would be nice if it could start streaming instead, this would allow things like having shortcuts of your games inside XBMC or other media frontends to stream your games. Also allowing to create shortcuts for non-steam games would be nice too.

Obviously. I know that, but I don't want to have to go into Steam to start streaming a game.
Here's a screenshot of my current setup; http://puu.sh/91wPc.jpg
With this, I can start any local game that is in Steam just by pressing A on my 360 controller, it goes straight to the game no problem.

But currently you can't make a shortcut to launch a streamed game, it'll ask to install in Steam instead. As for non-Steam games, you don't even get the choice of creating a shortcut.

I don't think there's anyway to do this currently, except maybe with some AHK script, but that would be kind of messy, so I just start Big Picture from XBMC for now and launch streamed games from there, but it's kind of a roundabout way of doing it.

I'm pretty sure it would be easy for Valve to fix this.

Oh haha, sorry, I've been sick the last few days so I'm not all there. I'm not sure either, I guess it's an oversight.

Nice!

Edit: Still can't create shortcuts for non-Steam games though. :\

I was planning to use LaunchBox on my weakest streaming client, which doesn't run BPM well because of the transparent graphics glitching.

I just wanted to see if there was any update yet that would allow non-steam games to be launched on the streaming client from the command-line? perhaps its coming in a future beta?

It's 2023. And I still want this. Specific case: I want to run "System Monitor" on the Steam Deck with a simple double click on something on my desktop instead of having to open up Steam, go to Library if something else was open last, click the filter thing, type "sys", click the thing and hit the Stream button which already is the fastest way, but still way to many steps. There's no way to create a shortcut since it's neither installed or even installable on Windows nor it's an actual Steam Game.

Please just let us create shortcuts for anything within the library, including non-Steam "games" and Remote Play streaming on specific devices.
