Issues getting AC: Revelations streaming (same as Brotherhood)
I'm having some issues getting Assassin's Creed: Revelations working on In Home Streaming. The host is a Windows 10 system, with fairly good hardware. The game is a UPlay edition (I don't know if I can activate it on steam) so it isn't technically "official", i.e I'm starting it from a shortcut. I try to launch ACRSP.exe which seems to be the most direct version. When I launch it from the client (also Windows 10), the host begins the update launcher, while the client displays a black screen. The game on the host then goes full screen for intro videos, but the client screen closes back out to my desktop as if the game had quit. It almost seems to me like steam is hooking the updater window and then thinking the game has closed?

There was a trick posted a while ago where someone recommended "steaming" notepad.exe, then switching and launching to the game directly. With some tinkering, I was able to get the main menu to show up on my client, although the XBox 360 controller plugged in on my client was not being detected properly by the game.

Can anyone recommend any fixes? Below is my log:

Workaround?

I'm assuming this workaround will work for any UPlay game, but here's what I've found:

  • Start UPlay as a shortcut from the client. The UPlay screen should pop up on the host, and the client will more than likely have a black screen.
  • On the host, click and drag the UPlay window a little bit. This will cause the screen to become visible on the client.
  • On the client, minimize UPlay (so your entire desktop is now visible), then launch AC from a shortcut on your desktop.
  • After some loading, you should have a fullscreen view of your game.

If you experience some issues such as a black screen with sound playing, a white box also with sound playing, or the streaming client closing by its self, try these things:

  • Exit AC (Alt+F4) either on the client or on the host.
  • Try launching AC from UPlay on the host machine while the client is still streaming UPlay.
  • Launch AC on the host from a shortcut on your desktop (linking to AssassinsCreedRevelations.exe or ACRSP.exe).
  • ry alt-tabbing out and back in again.

Doing various combinations of steps either on the client or on the host may have varied results as well.

I also could not get my XBox 360 controller to work properly from the client. (Relevant bug post here.)The mapping wouldn't work correctly; B opens the pause menu, pause and start do nothing, and both analog sticks would move the camera. Plugging the controller into the host and using it from there worked fine (yay, USB extension cords).

If it's possible to iron out these issues in Steam In Home, that would be great.

Bumping this, any chance on having these issues looked into?
