It happens only for games with an initial dialog: the others works fine.
I started launching games from big picture, disconnecting, closing big picture e re-connecting to the game from desktop client, and it's waaaaaaay far from ideal...
I forgot my OS: Windows 11 on both Host and Client, Host is 22H2, client still didn't receive that update.
Some other games:
- Deep Rock Galactic
- Astroneer
- Ark
Basically it seems like everything works except the initial call to start the game.
Strangely enough, only two machines are working now: one with a nvidia card that acts as a client also, and a steamdeck (AMD gpu). The other machines have Intel GPUs, and are similar in specs, i.e. Intel SOCs with a UHD Graphics 600 (somewhat crappy, but enough to have a stable 1080p stream).
Sadly, eikenb's suggestion doesn't work for me. All non-compatible machines show the "Connect" button, but they don't try to connect when I click it.
Also checking the log, the only thing I see are some traces in "cef.log" that almost matches in time with "streaming_log.txt":
cef.log:
streaming_log.txt:
I think the popup the cef traces mention is one that appears when trying to connect, that shows a help tooltip, and in a client machine with nvidia card, the popup failed to load properly and shown a javascript error inside the popup.
EDIT:
Also tested with beta build "Nov 18 2022" on both client and host side, and still doesn't work.
EDIT 2:
Tested both stable and beta versions of Steam on a client machine with nvidia card and streaming works properly. Neither work with Intel GPUs for me.
Also tried with "-newbigpicture" flag, but it doesn't work. It behaves the same way.
I have encountered this exact same scenario (beta and non beta updates included)
i can use remote play on a system with nvidia (as the client) fine, Intel iGPU doesnt work.
will post if i find a solution.
My set up is i use my little bedroom PC (i5-5th gen w/hd5500) to connect to my main machine (i5-9th gen w/gtx1650)
both machines are windows 10
my bedroom pc wouldnt connect through the steam client to my main pc. indicative of the intel igpu on client machine not working.
it works fine the other way around (nvidia discrete gpu on client machine).
NOW...
ive just installed the steam link app onto my bedroom pc, (https://media.steampowered.com/steamlink/windows/latest/SteamLink.zip) and its worked PERFECTLY
FYI - for Im using the Beta steam update (as of today) on both machines.
It did the trick on local network, and it's even working with the new Big Picture UI.
Here I'm hoping this works with different networks (i.e. connecting from another home).
EDIT:
Also, here I'm also hoping they don't ♥♥♥♥ up SteamLink in the following days...
latest update that pushed through either today or yesterday (GMT) has fixed it for me, i can now stream on an intel igpu client.
This on the beta channel? I haven't seen an update since last week.
