The colors are correct on the host (checked through VNC connection), and when I tab out of the game, the colors on my client also become correct again, but as soon as I tab back into the game, they turn back to being completely overdriven.
My host is a Windows 10 System with an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, and AMD Ryzen 9 3900X. My Client is running on Manjaro Linux.
- Issue definitely affects Dishonored, Sonic Mania, and Guacamelee.
- Skullgirls has this issue too, for me the stream starts okay with the opening logos, but then gets washed out at the start screen.
- Spelunky, Castle Crashers, Ducktales Remastered & Nuclear Throne are all D3D9 but don't have this problem.
For reference, I've got an all-AMD setup, RX 5600 XT video card with a Ryzen 5 3600 processor.
I am experiencing this issue with Skyrim Legendary Edition plus SKSE.
I discovered a workaround for Skyrim Legendary Edition, but this might also work for other directx games:
Download the latest version of DXVK[github.com], the file should be 'dxvk-1.10.tar.gz'. [1][2] Extract the archive and move the x32 files 'd3d9.dll' and 'dxgi.dll' into the root directory of your game. [3] You can find the root directory of your game by right clicking the game in your steam client and selecting 'manage' > 'browse local files'. It should have the game executable in the same folder I think.

Between this and the (20) crashing issue, whatever they did with this last update to stuff really just needs to be reverted it's the buggiest update release I've seen since I start to heavily use remote play a few years ago.
Using DXVK for this sort of issue is kind of a band-aid...it's basically converting the game's D3D rendering to Vulkan rendering. Depending on the game being played, Vulkan has had its own issues with Steam Remote Play for years. I still can't get the new DOOM or Wolfenstein games to stream properly without them being ran in Windowed mode.
Hopefully Valve's on the case with fixing this bug in the Steam client soon enough.
Can confirm this working for "The Witcher 2". Hopefully, Valve will provide a proper fix for this soon, though.
Unfortunately, this did not work for Towerfall Ascension, in which I am having the same issue. I don't know if it was because there was not any of these dll on the root folder before I put them, I think the game might not be using. I don't know if I should put them elsewhere.
The game name i'm trying to play: Terraria
GPU in host: Radeon RX 580,
GPU in client Intel HD Graphics.
The issue only happens if the game is in focus on the host.
The high brightness is only present on the laptop screen and not on the host screen.
To add more information, the steam overlay of the game is affected too.
