Xbox Controllers and the SteamLink App (Samsung TV)
Hello.
I have put together a brief overview of what exactly works with which xbox controller when playing wirelessly via the SteamLink app on Samsung TVs and what does not.

I am using a Samsung Q70T. All apps and firmwares are up to date as of today.

Xbox Series X Controller: Can be paired directly with the TV via Bluetooth. Steam recognizes the controller, the right stick unfortunately does not work properly, and many buttons are incorrectly mapped. At the moment this can NOT be remedied by reassigning the buttons. This may be fixed one day by software updates. Or maybe not.

Xbox One Controller: Can be paired directly with the TV via Bluetooth. Steam recognizes the controller. All buttons except the "Select" button (or whatever the button on the Xbox controller is called) and the Guide button work. Vibration is not supported.

Xbox Series X Controller + 8bitdo adapter (plugged into the TV): No support. the Series X controller uses a Bluetooth standard which is not supported by the 8bitdo adapter. This is a hardware problem and it is almost certain that firmware updates will never fix it.

Xbox Series One Controller + 8bitdo adapter (plugged into the TV): Steam falsely recognizes an Xbox360 controller, yet everything works perfectly except vibration. At the moment, this seems to be the best solution if you want to wirelessly use Xbox Controllers on this setup. If anyone here knows how to get the vibration to work with the setup described (8bitdo adapter plugged into the TV, games are played via the Samsung app), please advise.

You could try using Virtualhere to get Steam on streaming host to see your Xbox X controller as a Xbox X controller - if you use usb cable and a windows 10 pc.

Check controller settings to confirm your controller has a layout defined appropriate to your controller.

Doing this will over ride the generic gamepad driver/ Steam Input config assigned by Steam Link app and will let you use controller much more like local PC though xbox button will still open google voice search lol

Using usb cable and Virtualhere is how to make xbox button work exactly like local pc and get haptic feedback working when streaming to android client.

thanks pal, but using a cable is no option for me. I am playing on a TV which is located in a different room.
