Unable to connect to remote computer

I'm not sure if this is a bug or my computers. Yesterday I was able to stream from my desktop to my laptop just fine. But today (after a Windows update, and a steam update), my client will throw up an error whenever I try and stream a game: "unable to connect to remote computer". The client says that streaming is available and I can click to stream them. The game launches in the host but my client can't ever connect.

MACHINES:
Host is WIN 10 desktop
Client is Surface Pro (win 10)

Started having the "Unable to connect to remote computer" thing a while ago, and it hasn't worked since. Same network, firewall off, no antivirus at all, the game starts running on host but the guest just times out.

I can connect fine from my TV and desktop to my laptop, but not from the laptop or TV to the desktop

Running connect_remote <local ip address>:27036 does nothing.

I do have multiple multiple network adapters but steam seems to have chosen the right one.

Bummer, are you on MAC or Windows, tried anything in this thread yet?

Did they ever fix this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ issue? i've spent the last hour trying to work out what the issue is, tried absolutely everything and still only streams one way and its not the way i want.
