Games That Work and Games That Don't with Home Streaming
Is it useful at this stage to provide a list of games that work, or rather those that don't?

I have a few set-ups to try combinations with, and about 250 games, so wondering if it is helpful in the beta to start listing them? Is that the sort of feedback that's useful etc?

Anyway, on my initial 30 mins, here's some first tests:

Host 1: Win7 2500k @ 4.0, 8GB, Gigabit wired, ATI 6970 2GB, latest drivers
Client 1: Macbook Pro 15 (2013) wired, HDMI output to 60 inch TV. Non big picure mode.
Client 2: Alienware MX13 laptop, wired, HDMI out, Xbox 360 wireless controller. Big Picture mode.

Worked:

Kerbal Space Program. Good, very playable on client 1, at 1680x solid 30fps. Diagnostic display blocked part of screen (logged in other thread). Clicked out of window on host and got partial desktop on client 1, which was both surreal and neat I think.

Codemaster's GRID. Worked really well, 720p output for client 2. Played far too long, as a good couch game.

Proteus. Worked fine, $5000 of tech to remotely go back to 1986 graphics. (Kidding, it's a great game).

Skyrim. Client 1 at 1680x1050 solid at 30fps (just a quick 5 min test inside from a saved game). The starter dialog window (the play, options etc) came up full screen on the client, so overall it played pretty well.

Lego Avengers. It works very well, defaulted to 1280x800 on client 1 and held a sold 60 fps. Some of the intro movies with clouds and stuff made the encoding work pretty hard, with a few artifacts but not that noticeable. Couldn't get the Xbox 360 wired to work under OSX, but again probably not streaming related.

Didn't Work:

EDIT - As of Feb 4, now works.. ARMA3 dev build. Black screen on client 1 and 2. Controls and audio pass-through ok, but no render on client.

EDIT - As of Feb 4, now works.. DCS World. Failed to start, probably due to lack of Steam Overlay integration rather than anything to do with Streaming.

Super Meat Boy. Client 2 showed screen ok, but couldn't activate controls, like it couldn't bring focus to the client. Also started in 640x resolution on client, but that might just be because I just installed it again and it was initial settings. Possibly Big Picture mode related, retesting.

Wargames: EE. Almost worked on Client 1, in that it streamed ok at 60fps 720p but couldn't get past the tutorial without a mouse plugged in to the Mac (oh Steve!) for the 'zoom in and out using wheel' bit, which isn't really streaming's fault but still pretty fatal for testing any further.

Open to view the Google Spreadsheet here too, as per Hetsu:

Has anyone else had bad results with Skyrim? For me I was getting less than 1 fps with or 3000ms. Every other game worked fine.

I'll reinstall it on my host and report back what I find.

L4D kept crashing once a match started. Race the Sun worked though!

I'm going to try streaming DayZ to my Mac in a little. I'll report back on how well it worked.

Updated for skyrim, worked ok.

@Stents - in the F6 diagnostics, where was the most lag, i.e. display, game or input?

Super meat boy works perfectly fine on my end, 1920x1080, 60fps on both the client and host machine, no delays.

I haven't found any games that don't work yet, all it's doing is literally encoding a window/screen capture over the network, it works with software too. In theory, it should work with everything.

Yep, I think the only issues so far are:

- A game doesn't have Steam Overlay properly working (like DCS World, as a 64-bit title).

- A game shows a modal dialog at startup, or triggers UAC on the host.

- The client doesn't have a controller that a game is expecting, i.e. a mouse wheel etc on a Mac etc.

If anyone has any particular game requests, then I'm happy to do a quick test. Games I own on Steam (don't judge, I have kids ;) are here:

Hi fearlessfrog. Can you test LEGO MARVEL Super Heroes? It is a very good game for an adult also :)

I think my issue is related to Big Picture mode on my client 2. Trying to narrow it down now.

Excellent. I have a pretty similar host computer. It will be nice to be able to play Lego game in living room with my boy.

I'll also do any tests for games requested with few exceptions (i won't install anything that uses securom etc, as it stops my disc drive from working)

Do you think you could do the Batman games, as well as some source games (Portal 2, CS, TF2) ?
