Input temporarily disabled while the host is busy
I remote play with friends all the time, but it stopped working after I got the new steam update. Whenever I host a remote play session, it says "Input temporarily disabled while the host is busy" as if I'm alt-tabbed, even if I'm actively playing the game. But if I join a friends' session, there's no pop up.

I've looked this up, and all I've found is people saying to disable the beta version of steam, which I don't use in the first place.
I've also tried to turn off remote play and turn it back on again, still no avail. Please help.

what client type?
it may be due to steam not giving focus to the game after launching it from bpm

or something on the host staling focus
find out what is staling focus and fix it

what streaming client?
link hardware, linux/windows (steam client or link app), android, tv app, shield

if launching game from steams bpm, it often does not give focus to the game
which is what it sounds like its doing

I mean, I use windows I suppose. It never said I had to get anything separate like the link app, it just let me host stream and host games.

Also, I didn't clarify this in the post, but I meant Remote Play Together, not Remote Play Anywhere, my apologies. On my end, while hosting it runs fine. But on the other player's end, where they're connecting, it lags.

ok, how fast is the internet upload at host location?
30mb/s is kinda the min for a good quality 1080p stream

Mine is higher than 30mb/s, and I haven't had any internet problems or changes lately.. The problem isn't the quality. It runs smoothly, but it has a pop-up that says host is busy, as if I'm alt-tabbed or smth.

I've actually had my overlay off for a while because it was causing problems for another game. I could try turning it off and back on maybe...

Seems to work with it on. Which is odd because it was the other way around at one point. Either way, that's a fix for it.

Wait so if I turn off and on steam remote play it will work? I am having the same issue as you

steams overlay is only needed for a few games
steam input is needed for controllers on remote to work with host games

And is this for non-steam games or steam games? I am trying to figure out non-steam games because steam games work perfectly for me

Ah, yeah I was struggling with steam games. This was just to get remote play together working. Yeah, I got no clue, sorry.

The one solution I found that worked more consistently is to make sure the Host machine is playing the game in Fullscreen (not Borderless Window)
