Stream over Different Networks?
I was wondering if you could stream to another PC on a different network.
Say I was at Starbucks with my laptop connected to their wifi and my gaming PC was at home connected to my home wifi. I want to be able to stream games from my PC at home to my laptop.
I know Nvidia has a streaming feature for its SHIELD, but I don't want to go through the trouble of buying a new device just to stream my games.
Is there a way to do this? If not, I highly suggest Steam adds this feature.

Firstly: streaming over the Internet might give you troubles, because you will need a high upload bandwidth, for good quality 15Mbit/s at least.

Second: you need to setup a private VPN or use some other software to remotely access your PC at home. Google has many solutions for this. Wouldn´t want to do this over public WiFi for security reasons, though...

Lastly: the feature is called InHome Streaming, not InStarbucks Streaming. Which value would Valve have to offer such a feature? *scnr*

While I understand the reasons behind why Valve would not want to create this feature, I am all for it! I would love to be able to stream my games onto my laptop on the go from a different network, not just my home network.

+1

I know that nvidia gamestream supports this. It works pretty well but you will want to ditch wifi and go with wired. (too much input lag) I use a SHIELD so I don't know if it supports streaming to a laptop.

Try Hamachi or anything else like it...

Yeah that would also work. Programs like teamviewer have worked well for others in the past. I haven't used it personally for gaming but I would at least try it out.
