Remote Desktop Idea (Windows)
So, I think I may have figured something out, no, not that you can control the whole computer. Most people know about that already.
However, I have seen a bunch of people trying to make it easier to get into remote desktop like in-home streaming.
What I did was made a windows Batch file that only has:
start /min
in the file.
I then converted the batch file into an exe to be used on steam (you can just google how to convert it, just use a simple online converter)
I then added a "non-steam game" which was the batch file converted into exe.
All this does is opens a command prompt but then automatically minimizes it because of the "/min" part of the file.
It works fine on Windows 7, and I've also tested it on Windows 10 (which I'm using right now)

Let me know if you guys have any other ideas.

This works beautifully, so much better than the google remote desktop app I was using previously!

I'm glad you think so! :D It was just a random idea I had.
Wow, this needs to be stickyed. This works great!!!
It doesn't... not a single solution here for remote desktop works great :)

Uh, RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol, proprietary to Microsoft for use with Windows) already exists for this.

you can't compare RDP, with desktop streaming.... its like laggy 2d 100ms vs full 3d 15ms...

Haha, but really, what was the /best/ solution here for remote desktop sreaming through steam?
I thought this was probably one of the best for windows as it's very simple and easy to use :)
We need some dummy program that will stay in systray, IDLE, with just exit option, that will not take focus. But i am not programmer so i can't do this properly/fast...

Someone did already that but its buggy and not done right...

I could probably do that, I'll post about it here when I get around to doing it.
That would be great :)

I gamestream games from my PC to my windows 8 8inch tablet. When i want manually controll my pc via tablet i open hearthstone or any other battlenet game via steam homestreaming and then i have full view on my main pc desktop. Image is blurred, but i can easly controll it from there and can, for example, shut it off when iam done streaming in another room ;).

@Thomeus_PL that is a viable workaround but I'm looking for something more streamlined and most importantly deals with the issue of not taking focus. I currently use explorer.exe but I sometimes have windows popup that I can't click unless I RDP (which I don't want to do). The best solution would be something from Steam but I don't know if they will ever deliver a desktop button.
Here is exe that works well...

It's modified https://github.com/kevinxucs/steam-remote-desktop

removed click to stream desktop full screen on start, and changed way to quit on icon in systray, instead right click > quit it's just left click = quit...
