How to use remote play?

I used to play through remote play no problems, it was easy as just press stream. Now it asks for some code i cant find anywhere. Set up pin does nothing, some instructions suggest to disable pin code but there is no way to do that.

Remote play FAQ says this:
How do I use Remote Play?
1. Log in to the Steam client on the computer with the installed game you wish to play.
2. Now, Log into Steam on another computer or a supported device with Steam Link app installed.
3. From there, you can launch and play the game remotely from the Steam Library.

But that is clearly BS and doesnt work, thats how it used to work. Maybe steam should update that FAQ.
So how can i actually play steam games using remote play?
There is million topics about this and not a single clear answer. Everyone just wondering what the hell happened and why it doesnt work anymore.

if the client link device gives a code
enter it on host, steam -> settings -> remote play -> [pair steam link]

if the client is asking for a code
use what was set on the host pc
set it on host, steam -> settings -> remote play -> [set pin]

depending on the client type, it may have settings to start in bpm or desktop modes
link menu -> settings -> streaming -> advanced, or similar
