"Wake up Button" please
Hi

It was a very nice feature, when STEAM have a "wake up Button" on the client for the host PC.
realized with the option "wake on lan"

would be feasible? in the future?

I just set it in the bios when power is on start. Then hook it up to a plug that turns on and off a lamp on the wall.

having my local steam clients know of all the other steam clients, it should be possible to send the magic bit directly to trigger WOL.

The average user being technical enough to configure this might be a bit tricky.

That´s a cool idea, thanks. I´ve bought several RC power sockets recently but used only one for the lights in my bedroom. Now I can turn on and off (yeah, I know) my PC from bed and stream to my tablet whitout getting up ;)

The only difficulty would be that you would need a computer on the same network to send the packet. Example, if you were at a hotel with your laptop and your home desktop was turned off you wouldn't be able to send it the packet. I use WOL at work a lot for teachers to bring up labs and prepare for students before they arrive. It won't even cross VLANs.

Yeah, that would be awesome. Built-in WoL... Dreaming...

Again setup bios... Wake/Start from network request wake up and or power wake up so it can do both or other. , "peice of cake ' I even have it to wake on controller in case it goes to sleep or powers off and cant reach light switch. it is all in the set up.

But if it were a shortcut from the OS then that would be even better . That would save the firstys from a accedental mistake in the bios. just be careful if you never been in a bios guys.

That's no problem, when your Dektop PC is at Home and you in a Hotel. You can Wake up him online ( you need for example "Teamviewer" and fixed IP adress from your Provider ( or DynDNS ) then you can start PC`s on other locations.

But IHS is only for home to stream on Lan and wifi.
