No sound with an Asus Xonar DX
First, everything works fine from streaming from my Win8.1-host (i54670k, 8GB Ram, Geforce GTX670, Asus Xonar DX soundcard) to my client (Notebook i32120m, 8 GB Ram, Geforce 640m), when I use the Onboard-Soundcard on the host (Realtek ALC887). But normally I'm using the Xonar DX for gaming, because the sound is much better than the onboard. And with this Xonar DX I only get sound when I'm changing the playback device in Windows from analog to digital. But my speakers are plugged in the analog outputs, because of 5.1 sound, and digital only provides 2ch-sound. I also start/shutdown my host from my client over WOL, because my host is in the basement and my client is plugged on the TV in the livingroom, and I don't want to go downstairs everytime I want to play on TV to change the playback device. But I also get no error in the steamlog, here's for example Sleeping Dogs, once with Xonar DXanalog, once with Xonar DX digital and once with onboard.

The only thing which is different is the channel mask, what does this value mean?
Or is it possible that the Xonar DX has no jack detection? Because the onboard device has that.
I've read this post:
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/homestream/discussions/0/540731690749585714/

That inhome streaming says there is nothing plugged in, so we don't need sound?

I hope you can help me somehow.

I own an Essence STX, so it may not be exactly the same with regards to drivers, but here sound works fine using the analog output on the card. I'm assuming the DX has the same kind of control software as the STX, or at least similar, and its Asus, so it should have jack detection.

Now, to some possible solutions:
-Check for updated drivers.
-Try to disable virtual surround from the card software
-Check the sampling rate and bit depth, it could be causing some odd conflict. Put it at 44.1kHz/16 bit for best compatibilty.
-Verify the output options in the software, maybe its set for front panel or something. Shouldn't be causing issues, but still worth checking if the rest doesn't fix

Worst case scenario, switch to the onboard audio when you want to stream, and revert to the sound card when you use the host. In theory, the streaming is capturing the sound after the DSP, sending it over the network, and the DAC being used is whatever is on the receving end for the sound(TV ot home theater receiver). The sound card will make absolutely no difference for streaming unless you're using some dsp on the sound card.

Sorry if I couldn't be of more help

@ IanStoianov

Actually you helped me with the point: check for updated drivers. A had the lastest drivers from Asus, Version 8.0.8.1822, but I found the UNI Xonar drivers.
Here's the link: http://maxedtech.com/asus-xonar-unified-drivers/
With this drivers I'm able to hear sound when I'm streaming, with all the settings I like. Finally, it was a driver problem. Many thanks to you.

looks like you have a problem

Turn off GX in the Xonar Audio Center.
