[SOLVED] DXVA2 Acceleration on Nvidia Ion?
I have an Nvidia Ion on Win 7 as my client box, and regardless of the HW acceleration setting in Steam it's still running software decoding. The Ion should be capable of DXVA2 GPU acceleration; is this old hardware just not supported or am I perhaps missing something obvious?

Just to update this, with a big thanks to XanderChaos for this blurb in the Beta thread:

"Also, it took me a good 20 minutes to figure out that you need the DX9 redistributable installed for DXVA HWA to work. Had a clean install of Windows 8.1 and couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting HWA. Just a reminder for anyone who is having "slow decode" issue."

Since this was a clean client PC build for me with the only intent to be streamed content, I never thought to install the DX9 redist package. Immediately after installation, hardware acceleration is working like a charm (verified with host PC streaming logs).

I'm also asking valve how to know if I'm using DXVA2 video processing or not, and how to activate if not

You can tell if acceleration is being used by looking at the streaming_log file on your host PC in steam/logs. That's how I can see that my Ion box is always using the software decoder even though it should be DXVA2 capable. Hope that helps!
