mouse and keyboard not working
I can launch a game fine but my mouse and keyboard presses do nothing. The mouse cursor appears on the screen and you can see it moving but that's it. The game doesn't respond to any keyboard presses or mouse clicks,

my mouse cursor shows, but doesn't do anything. Keyboard & mouse only work on host computer

playing Mass Effect 1
Make sure you have a keyboard and mouse plugged into the host as well as the client, as if you don't the client doesn't work in some games

I am having the same issue, with any time in my library i try... but my mouse seems to work, but once I TRY to use the keyboard neither work. Hope there is a fix soon....I really dont want to reinstall a different version of windows.

And
Host: Windows 8.1
client: windows 7 and windows 8.1

Same thing happens to me
Host: Windows 7
Client 1: Windows 8.1 ASUS Laptop
Client 2: Windows 7 ASUS Laptop

Mouse works until I use the keyboard. Even if I plug in a USB keyboard into the laptop and use that.

Hate to revive a dead thread, but anyone ever find a fix for this?
Yes - I plugged in a USB mouse to the main PC.
Same issue for Final Fantasy XIII. Controls stop working after going to Load Game. OR if you plug controller in during the gameplay, they stop working once any in-game menu comes up (e.g. at the Save station).

Host: Windows 8
Client: OSX latest
Controller: Xbox 360 wireless (on client)

no fixes for this? seems like its possibly windows 8 related or just a steam update?

host: win7
client: win8.1

usb Kb+Mouse in both client and host machine.

fast home internet (152Mb Download)

This used to work

game affected: Rust

investigation suggests that it is game related not a steam setting :/ some games require higher permissions when running and thus preventing the capture of the mouse/keyboard input. i guess all we can do is report it to steam
OK I had a bunch of problems with this issue. Turns out, the game I was running was executing as administrator and steam was running as the local user. So. Solution - when you startup steam on the CLIENT computer (the one the game runs on), make sure you start it as ADMINISTRATOR.

It seems like if Steam isn't administrator, but the game runs as admin, then steam won't pass through the commands!

See if that works.
Looks like I was one of the lucky ones. It seems that one of the Steam updates fixed it. Streaming works without a hitch for me now. Good luck to those of you still facing issues.

Dang. I have a USB mouse and Keyboard connected to the host and it still doesn't work for me. Would be nice to get some real support.
Starting Steam as Administrator on my host, solves this problem for me.
I'm having a similar issue. While playing Just Cause 2 on my MacBook Pro streaming from Host 2 (details listed below), my keyboard works, but the mouse does not respond at all. However, when I've tried streaming it from Host 1, everything works just fine.

Host 1: Windows 7 (Sony VAIO desktop)
Host 2: Windows 8.1 (Toshiba laptop)
Client: Mac OS 10.10.3 (MacBook Pro with Retina, 15-inch, late 2013 model)

I have the same problem as you guys

Every game that i launch via streaming is working fine with the mouse input until i press any key from the keyboard, then, the screen on the host computer freezes and the client is able to move de mouse but it won't affect the host, so the game freezes.

Host: Windows 7 64bits Desktop
Client: Windows 7 64bits Notebook (Sony Vaio VPC-SB25FB)
I have the same problem.

It happens in any game that can be streamed. When the stream starts the mouse can move and click on things, but once a keyboard key is hit (even just changing the volume via keyboard volume buttons) the mouse stops being able to click. In some games (Civ V) the mouse can still move but can't click, but in others (FTL) the mouse cannot move or click.

Running Steam as Admin on the client makes no difference.

Host: Windows 8.1
Client: Windows 7
Streaming over WiFi N
Same as above.

Host: Windows 7 64bit
Client: Debian 7

Affected input: Keyboard
