"Slow Encode" Error - Post hosting hardware here!
If you are getting "Slow Encode" errors while streaming, please post your hardware here. :squirtyay:

ENCODE errors are from the streaming computer, or the host. DECODE errors are from the client/PC being streamed to. Trying to nail down how good of a main computer processor you need to stream properly in the majority of games.

i tried portal 2,slow encode and sometimes decode showed up while playing(mostly encode).i will however say that the game never became unplayable.one thing thought i tested the streaming by connecting the host and client directly using an internet (ethernet)cable
Try reducing the resolution and if you aren't wired try going wired on both
grumpycrab の投稿を引用:
Suggestion for "slow encode": reduce "limit bandwidth" at the client; this will reduce the encode task at the server/host. If this improves things then this is evidence of not enough oomph at the server/host.

i did what you suggest above i also set client option to fast and limited bandwith to 3 on both client and host. i was able get playable framerates(46-48)though when i moved in game the quality of the picture on client decreased.game was portal 2
Slow encode for me as well

I got it yesterday when trying AC: Revelations

It happened when I put the bandwith on 'unlimited'. Great picture, but quite choppy :)
When putting the bandwidth on automatic, some artifacting appeared.
I'm guessing the host was already struggling with AC at max settings there was not enough headroom for encoding?

Does steam use the integrated features (HD3000 / quicksync) ? Or does it put extra load on the discrete GPU?

Batman Arkham Asylum & Kingdoms of Amalur were doing fine.

Slow encode, only rarely.
Host is running
i3 3220
8gb ddr3 1600
AMD Radeon HD 7850 2gb @920MHz

Client is running:
I5 3337U
Intel HD 4000
4Gb DDR3
Slow encode:

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T @ 3.2 GHZ
8GB DDR3
Nvidia 560ti
ASUS ROG Motherboard
800watt Corsair PSU

Comtrend Homeplug Network

Host:
Intel i7-3820 3,6 GHz
8 GB DDR 3 RAM
Asus GTX 660

Client:
Intel Celeron M 1,5 GHz
256 MB DDR RAM
Integrated GPU

I guess the client is way too slow for decoding...
Slow encode on Borderlands 2 (only in Sanctuary so far, other areas don't show issues)

OS: Windows 8 Pro
CPU: i5 3330
RAM: 16 GB DDR3
GPU: Geforce GTX650 Ti Boost 2 GB
Network: Gigabit Ethernet. Measured about 24 MB/s.
Slow Encode while streaming Grid 2. Only game ive tried so far. Fps on the client is horrible aswell, dropping into the 20's sometimes although its running beautifully on the host machine. Definately was quite unplayable.

Host pc:

OS: Windows 7
CPU: i5 2500k
RAM: 16 GB
GPU: Geforce GTX 770
Network: Gigabit Ethernet wired

Clent pc:

OS: Windows 7
CPU: Intel Core2Duo e8400
RAM: 8 GB
GPU: Geforce GTX 550ti
Network: Gigabit Ethernet wired

I really want to play team fortress 2 in my notebook :(

:zombieva:

VALVE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD FIX THIS
Slow encode message, found a slight fix. It seems the client sometimes interprets a slow network as slow encode. Streaming does have a slow network error ( I never received it until I forced my connection down through a 10mbps hub), but it seems only to be triggered when you average approximately 15mbps. However to stream 1080p, the estimated bandwidth can be between 450mbps (Bio-shock Infinite) and 550mbps (Dirt 2).

What this means is that your host pc (the one running the game), your client pc (the one your playing the game on), and your network( switches and access points) need to be *1 Gbps* connections. You can verify this by going to your Ethernet Status on your pcs. If you are wireless, then may there be mercy on your soul.

**Speedtest.net will NOT help you test for this!!!

I originally received this message when I was streaming to my laptop ( i5 processor ) through a 10/100mbps switch, had about 15 to 30 fps. After upgrade the switch to a 10/100/1000mbps switch I no longer receive the message and have a solid 60 fps.

Host PC:
Intel 4th Gen i7 processor
16Gb Ram @1600mhz
2x NVIDIA GTX 560 Ti
1 Ethernet Internet

Client PC:
Intel 4th Gen i5 Processor
6Gb Ram @ 1060Mhz
1 Gbps Ethernet
