The border of my screen when I use streaming is cut off
Like half an inch from the left, top, right and bottom of the screen are black which cuts off the image. Any ideas on how to fix? changing the resoultion doesn't help and my TV is running at 1080p without any issues.

is it actually cut off? Or is the image just smaller than the screen? If it's the latter, you can try adjusting the overscan settings on your tv. Do you have any other client devices/monitors you can try for comparison?

Just match the resolution of your client on your host, or at least set it for the same aspect ratio.

I've already adjusted the tv for overscan or underscan or w/e. The 1080p picture is smaller than the screen normally so I had to fix it. That hasn't fixed it and nothing I can do is fixing it. There is a black border around the image cutting off half an inch on everything I launch through steam.

The TV has the same resolution and aspect ratio as my monitor so there aren't any settings to change.

I have been scouring the internet for a solution to this same problem. Does anyone have a working solution?

I've set the resolution of my gaming PC to be the same of my HTPC (which is connecetd to a TV). I've set the over/under scan on my HTPC so that I am able to see the entire desktop when I'm in the lower resolution of my gaming PC's monitor.

I'm at a loss what could be causing it, and it's causing me to not use this streaming service. I like the sound of it, but can't really use it as-is. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks!

Sorry Necroing this old post but the same thing has just happened to me.

Playing Shadow warrior on my 1080p Samsung last month with no border, played it tonight after recent steam updates and now the screen is missing and inch all around.

It does this on all games streamed from my host PC to the TV PC downstairs. Most games with HUD features around the edge of the screen are now unplayable.

All settings match for the upstairs PC at 1920*1080 and 1080p for the TV downstairs with the overscan set on the TV PC for full panel real estate.

Both computers AMD cards with the 14.12 Omega drivers.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Bump.

Anyone out there know of a solution to the black border around the screen when streaming to my HTPC and 1880p TV.

Thanks

I had this problem previously, resolved it by removing all hardware encoding / decoding. Note that I was playing with the client/servers settings today (trying to optimise for Witcher 3) and it looks likme the current version of the Steam client has resolved this as I had no problems with HW encoding / decoding on my tests.
y i cant add friend? i totally level 35?

The Stream aspect and the computer aspect ratio have to match or you get that cut off issue. Just fixed it by changing both to 1920 x 1080

in the tv settings, disable overscan, set it to just or full native

if that does not work, in link menu, set its overscan to compensate
but that will blur the image, since its a lower res being sent to the display, and the tv scales it up to overfill the overscan area
