need help getting steam remote play / streaming working over LAN , not internet
I can't seem to get my streaming / remote play to work from another pc on the same router. Not sure what i'm doing wrong. Is it because I have a vpn on them that has a virtual adapter? or that i have the network set to public instead of trusted? Ipv6 enabled? NAT set to strict?
Is there a way to check for a log to see why it didn't do the LAN connection?

make sure the lan ip on host and client are similar 192.168.same.different
make sure you can ping the client from the host
and steam -> settings -> remote play -> allow direct connection -> automatic or all

if any of those are set incorrectly it will force remote play to use steams internet relays instead of lan direct connection

Can you tell what exactly isn't working? Do you get a crappy stream? Stream cancels? No server discovered?

bad quality stream, freezes, notification saying "slow connection". My internet's upload speed isn't very good but my local network is great and does 1,000mbps and I want to try to use that if I can but I can't figure it out

Enable detailed performance metrics. That'll tell you the bottleneck.

thanks, the pinging client and host and their own IP's helped me figure it out. Turns out my VPN was blocking all local traffic in a setting. Had to turn it off. Works great now! Thank you. :cozybethesda:
