Remote Play issues on EA FC 25

so me and my friend have played EA FC 24 through remote play to play our career mode and playing matches has been fine for both of us.

However

since the new game came out, we connected again but for whatever reason the person joining the remote play, has their controller messed up and for some reason divided between two controllers? for instance one controller is controlled by the analog sticks and another controller is done on the Dpad. it makes no sense and at this point is completely unplayable. other buttons on the controllers are all randomised too. so pressing A on the controller is like pressing the RB button. pressing start makes your player shoot ect.

so i have gone onto steam settings and onto the remote play controller to see if that had any effect, but it shows that my controller is correct. i have also gone into the game controller config and that shows that all the buttons are correct too? so im at a loss. would love some help here. i tried to reach out to steam support and they just said post it on here? so you guys are my last hope. i have no idea why its done this now as EA FC 24 was absolutely fine? and there is no special way of recreating this bug, just accept invite and then the controller is messed up.

and no we dont have muitlple controllers plugged in, and ive uninstalled and reinstalled the controller drivers just in case.

make sure steam is running as admin

check steams overlay and rename and bind controllers as needed for the game
