Remote Play delay, lag spikes, bad quality
Okay so, I've set up a budget streaming setup, PC wired to router (ASUS RT-AX58U, if that matters), cat6 cable. Did the QoS thingy to prioritize myself, I'm literally the only person using the 5GHz band (some family members use the 2,4GHz band though). Tried wireless streaming to my phone and it's just straight up awful.

Bad video quality, ~0.5 sec input delay, lag spikes. Is this normal or am I tech cursed? Could it somehow be the fault of my bargain bin PC? (MSI H61M-P31 mobo, i7-2600, GTX 1660 6gb, 8 gigs of ram)

I really want the streaming thingy to work, please help me out here bois

A 2nd Gen Intel Processor and an 8 GB of Memory RAM might not cut it especially for modern 3D games. But you can try playing a simple 2D game first to further test your connection. Also, you can try setting Steam's "Client Option Streaming" quality to "Fast". You can also take a look at the specs of your phone and see if you can still further optimize its settings. Turn off any non-important apps running in the background etc. You might need a phone with at least 3 GB Memory RAM.

Another thing that you can do is try changing the Channel being used by your Wifi Router for the 5 Ghz. Choose a Channel in your area that has less traffic.

I've been testing it only on Binding of Isaac and Slay the Spire, ran like hot garbage. Phone is Redmi Note 7 (so it gets into the +3gb RAM category). I've switched quality to fast before writing this post, also I live in out in the boonies so there is no wifi interference, channel shouldn't even matter. Also, the router is like 4-5m from the phone so I doubt range is the issue.

Maybe it really is the garbage CPU but I am using the hardware GPU encoding, I don't know how much it matters. Could it maybe be the ♥♥♥♥ mobo and it's built in ethernet card?

Can you acceptably play those 2 games on your computer as normal? If not gaming, does your phone work well streaming Youtube videos using 5 Ghz? Is your Network Connection speed test in the Steam Link app good (30 Mbps or more I guess)? If your answers are all positive, you may want to trace the issue further by checking your Steam Remote Play Logs. Here's a useful post about it.

Okay so I did the log thingy (since all games and yt/netflix/stuff streaming runs fine) and from what I understand it really might be the fault of my garbage PC. I'm still getting some lines indicating bad connection but I really don't know why that is. Maybe because I'm running a half-wifi setup? The cable is brand new, maybe I'll test it later with iperf.

If you got the time could you take a peek at the log? Not sure if I get everything written in that post you linked. For example wether the "0" near "SlowConvertPercent" (and the other "Slows") indicates that it's actually slow. Shouldn't it be "1" if true?

Edit: I've tested the cable with iperf and it showed -90Mbits/sec bandwidth on cable. It's supposedly cat6 so is it busted or might it be ♥♥♥♥ ethernet card? Is it enough for streaming?
