STEAM IN-HOME STREAMING COMPATIBILITY LIST

I've spend quite some time testing 68 games with In-Home Streaming, and here are the result for each game, with details on how to made all those game work with Steam In-Home Streaming, hope it will be usefull to many people.

Host: Windows 8.1
Client: SteamOS Alchemist

My Home Network :

• Routers : NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 (Dual-Core 1Ghz 384mb Ram)
  
• Host and Client are both plugged with a 1 Gbits/s @ 1000 Mbps/s CAT 7 Wired Connection

INSTRUCTIONS

Some Games require Trick to run with In-Home Streaming, here are the details :

Desktop :

• Games need to be launched from Desktop, for this you will want to Stream you're Host Desktop from you're Client Steam Machine.
  
• To start Streaming Desktop, add "notepad.exe" (located in C:/Windows/notepad.exe) as a Non-Steam Game
  
• In Big Picture Library, at the left click on the "+" Button and "Add a Non-Steam Game to my Library" and browse folder to the .exe
  
• In Steam Desktop Library, at the bottom right, click "Add game" and "Add a Non-Steam Game" and browse folder to the .exe
  
• Once "notepad.exe" is added to Steam Library, you can right click on it, and select "Properties", here you will be able to rename it. I have choose to rename it to "Stream Desktop"
  
• Now that you're "notepad.exe" Steam Library shortcut is called "Stream Desktop" you can select a custom icon for it. I have choose to use a Alienware icon, since my gaming PC use a Alienware-like Case (460x215 pixel .jpg)
  
• Here is what it should look like :

• You should also take a look at Google Image, with the "Search Tools", and "Size" set exactly to 460x215 to find a Custom Icon for you're "Stream Desktop" shortcut.
  
• To start Streaming you're Host Desktop, just click "Play" on the "Stream Desktop" ("notepad.exe") Shortcut on Steam Library.
  
• Now that "notepad.exe" is running on you're Screen, press F1 to open Help and loose focus of the Window, you will now see you're entire Host Desktop.
  
• Locate Steam in the taskbar (running in Big Picture mode in the Background), right-click on it, and close it.
  
• Close the "Help Windows" you just open with F1
  
• You must leave notepad.exe running in the background if you want the Streaming to continue, the second you close "notepad.exe", you will return to Big Picture on you're Client Steam Machine.

Origin

• Game need to be launched with Origin.exe running as a Non-Steam Games. For this you will want to add Origins.exe as a Non-Steam Game.
  
• In Big Picture Library, at the left click on the "+" Button and "Add a Non-Steam Game to my Library" and browse folder to the .exe
  
• In Steam Desktop Library, at the bottom right, click "Add game" and "Add a Non-Steam Game" and browse folder to the .exe
  
• Locate you're Origin installation on you're Host PC.
  C:/Program Files/Origin (for windows 32 bit)
  C:/Program Files (x86)/Origin (for windows 64 bit)
  
• You're Folder might be different depending what you have choose when you have installed Origin on you're computer.
  
• Now inside the Origin folder, locate "Origin.exe" and add it as a Non-Steam game.
  
• Once "Origin.exe" is added to Steam Library, you can right click on it, and select "Properties", here you will be able to rename it. You can rename it to the game of you're choice, exemple "Battlefield 3", "Battlefield 4", "Titan Fall" , also, you can add Origin.exe multiple time to you're Steam Library, for all you're Origin Games.
  
• Now that you're "Origin.exe" Steam Library shortcut is renamed to you're game,you can select a custom icon for it. You need to use 460x215 pixel picture. Look at these dedicated website where you can find custom icon for non-steam Games :

• You should also take a look at Google Image, with the "Search Tools", and "Size" set exactly to 460x215
  
• Here is what it should look like :

• To start playing you're Origin Games. Click on you're Games shortcut in Steam Library.
  
• IMPORTANT : Please note that ORIGIN.exe process must be closed on the Host. It must not running at all on the Host when you Launch it with you're shortcut, so Steam could run it as a Non-Steam games.
  
• Now that "Origin.exe" is running on you're Screen, press PLAY on the Origin game of you're choice in you're Origin Library.
  
• Exemple, if you click Play on Battlefield 3, it will open you're default web browser, and you will see the Battlelog, and you will be able to play from there.
  
• You must leave Origin.exe running in the background if you want the Streaming to continue, the second you close "Origin.exe", you will return to Big Picture on you're Client Steam Machine.

Other
If a game have no instruction, just add the game to Steam, by purchasing it on Steam, or as a non-steam Game, and launch the game, it should work out of the box with In-Home Streaming.

  v1.13d & v1.12a : Locate you're Diablo II installation folder and Add "Game.exe" as a Non-Steam Game.
  Important : Don't use "Diablo II.exe", it will not work !
  Work great with these setting, just launch the game with In-Home Streaming
  D2MultiRes mods with v1.12a @ 1920x1080 : Not working at all with In-Home Streaming
  Windows Vista/7/8/8.1 users :
  Run Diablo II in compatibility mode.
  Right-click Diablo II.exe and click Properties (located in you're Diablo II installation folder)
  Click the Compatibility tab.
  Check Run this program in compatibility mode.
  Select Windows XP (Service Pack 2) from the dropdown.
  Check Disable desktop composition and Run this program as an administrator
  Click OK.
  Download the latest 3dfx Glide Wrapper here :

  Unzip the 4 files of "gl32ogl14e.zip" to you're Diablo II installation folder.
  Run the Video Test option located in you're Diablo II installation folder
  C:/Program Files/Diablo II/D2VidTst.exe
  Press RUN TEST and after the test, Select 3dfx Glide
  
• Diablo III - Reaper of Souls
  Locate you're Diablo III installation folder and Add "Diablo III.exe" as a Non-Steam Game, and in the shortcut properties in Steam Library add "-launch" in the Target. Should look like these in the Steam Library shortcut properties :

What can we learn from all this? In-Home Streaming is incredible. Only 2 of 68 games do not run on In-Home Streaming, Dark Souls 1 and a BETA version of Magicka Wizard Wars! All the other games work just fine.

Thanks for the detailed info, it was amazing.

As for Watch Dogs, I've got it from uPlay (gift from the buying of a nVidia GTX), and I don't have any problem with controls. I can play with Mouse&Keyboard or with 360 Wireless controller from the client without problem. The only difference is that you've SteamOS and I've Win8 on the client side.

Update 2014-07-06 : Control for my Watch_Dogs version doesn't work. Need to connect my XBOX360 wireless adapter to my Host. Even on a Windows 8.1 client.

FYI, adding UPlay to Steam Streaming, as done for Origin above, will allow UPlay games not native to Steam to stream as well. Tried it with Assassin's Creed Unity and it ran perfectly.

Assassin´s Creed Brotherhood (with original Uplay):

After some problems with Assassin´s Creed II, I used a fix for Uplay-Launcher - with this fix the launcher starts in the background but it also deactivates the game-registration with Uplay and with Brotherhood the game was stuttering all the time. After reinstalling Uplay with the original files, registering (maybe updating) the game, it works now without any lags on highest settings.

GTA IV (GFWL works if you activate Liberty City Stories first):

Create a file named "commandline.txt" under "XX:\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto IV\GTAIV", insert these lines, save it and start the game via Steam In-Home:
