QoS in home networks usually entail prioritizing traffic to and from the Internet. If you have a router than can actually prioritize LAN traffic, then by all means carve out some of that 1Gbps+ bandwidth and give half to the IP addresse of your Steam host. You would need to create a rule stating that all IP based traffic for your Steam host IP address (doesn't matter what port) should be given 500Mbps+ bandwidth up/down. If you want to be more specific, you'll need to give your Steam client a DHCP reservation so that you can use QoS between the two IPs for maximum focus of throughput.
I did this for AC:Syndicate and still that game runs badly over streaming.
BTW: the Link is limited to 80 MBit/s, that´s one of the reasons it only has a fast ethernet connector and no Gig-E. Giving it 500 MBit/s is like casting pearls before swine.
