Steam thinks my controller is a keyboard/mouse! Help!
When I use the client computer or steam link to run a non-steam game, the host computer thinks the connected controller is a mouse and keyboard. The analog sticks act as a mouse, the right trigger acts as the left mouse button, the B button acts as Esc key, directional buttons act as arrow keys on a keyboard. How do I fix this so that it knows it's an xbox 360 controller?

Well, I got it working using GloSC. Download GloSC and install the program along with the vigem program as well. It'll give you instructions on adding your UWP games to steam. If you don't see your UWP on the list, don't sweat it. Hold win key and press R, once your Run prompt opens type shell:appsfolder and hit enter. Once that opens hold alt and press v. On that menu choose the option that says "Choose details...". Check the box that has "AppUserModeId" then press okay. Then hold alt and press v again and choose "Details". Now it should list your programs and to the far right if it's a UWP app it will show it's ID, for example minecraft is "Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App". So if you can't find your UWP app when you click the UWP, that's where this ID comes in handy. In the Path box simply type in your UWP ID (case sensitive) and make sure you leave enable overlay and enable virtual controllers. Next check the box that says launch game and click save. Once you are finished adding the UWP games you wanted you can click add all to steam. It will ask you to restart steam you can let the program do it or do it yourself. You may need to run as admin for this to work, I run my steam as admin all the time as I always have problems with it if I don't. Now you'll move on to your steam link. Connect to your PC (I recommend if you are just playing games from steam to set it to connect to your PC straight to BPM-Big Picture Mode), once connected go straight to the settings. This part is going to be extremely helpful. Once in settings go into "Base Configurations". Click on "Steam Button Chord configuration". (I am using an Xbox One controller for this guide) Now, what this handy setting is (if you don't know) allows you to hold the guide button and these settings will trump your current settings whilst it's held down. So, with that said go into the "browse configs" option and press "show other controller types" find your controller and import config, press apply configuration. Now from here I left everything as is except for the "start" button and d-pad. I changed the "start" button from alt+tab to win+tab (windows+tab will show you all the windows you have open on that desktop). I changed the d-pad to the up, down, left, and right arrows respectively. I also went ahead and added my "A" button to be the enter key. Once you are done you can leave the menu screen. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE STEAM OVERLAY ON TO EXIT GAME EASILY, and I also have the setting "Guide button focuses steam" unchecked in "controller settings". Once all this is done you can finally go to your library and load your game. Once you load up the game, you'll hear it but won't see it, this is why we setup that steam setup chord config. Hold your guide button down and press the "start" button and that'll bring you to your windows, you should see your game running. Hold the guide button and navigate to your game that's running and press the "A" button or whatever you bound to "Enter". Whala, your game should show up and it should be treating your controller as a normal controller input. Now when you exit your game it'll take you back to that blank screen you saw when you loaded it up, simply press your guide button and the steam overlay will pop up and click "close shortcut" it should close that screen and you will be back in BPM. I hope this guide helps someone, it took a lot of researching and combining of guides to get this to work for me. So credit and kudos to everyone's hard work and I hope this helps all of you guys out who are having the same problem! :) :steamhappy:
